Melanie Rice Handworks

Melanie Rice is a freelance designer who enjoys knitting, crochet, needlework, and playing classical piano. “I taught myself to knit years ago when I wanted a sweater with a schoolhouse on it for my first-grader,” Melanie says. “I now focus on producing practical, adaptable, classic designs for knitting and crochet. I am inspired by simplicity, organization, and of course, other talented designers. I strive to write clear and concise patterns, to include affordable yarns for samples, and to give acknowledgement to stitch pattern sources.” Melanie’s patterns have been featured by Quince & Co., Knitscene, and Interweave Knits.
